Cheers! Week One is almost done.

Well, yesterday’s post went over well, I see. I debated whether I should post it or not, and obviously decided to do so.  We are direct and matter of fact with our kids about things like this, teaching in scientific terms and it works for us this way.  I know it may not work for all families though.

Moving on, today, day 3 of summer schooling didn’t go as well as the past 2 days.  The plus?  Toby did a tracing paper by himself for the first time.  The negative?  Ty pretended to not know how to write and gave me a struggle and A cried b/c unlike her teachers in the past, I didn’t negotiate her grades with her and gave her paper the ACTUAL grade she earned.  Imagine? She threw a few excuses why she shouldn’t get the dispersed grade and had a meltdown when I kept the grade she earned.  I have an agreement with the kids if they do their work without fighting me on it and A have at least an 80 or above than we can have a special treat at the end of the week like icecream or a special craft or trip.  Today Ty and A lost their privileges for this week.  I have a feeling that this won’t happen too often after this.

Tonight I went out with the girls- fun time! We started at The Grape where I had a very yummy glass of pinot and bite of  bruchetta. We then went on to our famous The Bamboo Club.  Last time I was there with the girls, we were sitting near Derek Jeter, Tiger Williams, Michael Jordan, and Tiki Barber.  Nothing that exciting happened tonight, but we still had a really good time.  Now, if I could do this every so often this summer, I think I just may not go crazy from lack of personal space from the kids.  And to that I will raise my glass!

Ohh, girls night out. Must. schedule. one. now.

Glad the homeschooling is going well(ish). Are you going to go through the summer or take it off?

Congrats on making it through your first week of homeschooling!

I need to schedule a girls’ night out, too! And, The Bamboo Club? Yum! That was one of our favorite places to eat out in Tampa. Jealous!! :)

Ooooh, how fun! Uh, the night out, not so much the homeschooling! ;)

    Good luck!

Bravo! I’m all for handling sex discussions matter-of-factly…. this coming from the mother who is struggling to find ways of bringing the subject up with her nine-year-old. *sigh*

P.S. Learning about homeschooling through your experience is awesome. Thank you so much for sharing.

P.S.S. I haven’t had a real girls night out…. maybe ever. So allow me to sit back and live vicariously through yours. That pinot tastes like heaven, if I do say so myself.
