Hi Def Irony

The irony. Before we had the boys, my hubby really wanted a big screen television. As you can imagine, I was like “no way!” and “too expensive!” He kept talking and planning and to appease him, I said something to the affect of “when I get pregnant, (which I was told by doctors was highly unlikely), then you can get the stupid TV.”

A few months later, I was preggo with Ty. Irony number one.tv.jpg

I kind of enjoyed the TV for awhile. Due to the size, it was a bit squishy in our poorly designed house, but it would do. Hubby was happy and enjoyed using it, so all was well.

Then we had the boys. Not only did we have the boys, but we had boys with dirty hands that loved to touch the big screen. Not only did the boys love to decorate the screen part for us, but they loved shoving cheerios and such and drip milk near the cloth like speaker area. This is the area that is not easily cleaned, especially when the material used is highly revolting to the mother, aka house cleaner, who wants to vomit every time she even thinks about that awful feeling of the material. (yes, I’ve got issues).

Irony number two. Now it is very rare that you will find either one of the parents sitting down watching this must-have big screen television. Not only do we not have the time to sit and watch TV, but it’s annoying to sit there, trying to veg out and look at how badly the screen, that was just cleaned 2 days ago, needs to be cleaned again.

If we do decide to watch TV, we now use a clean, but little, old and beat up TV in our room. No extra special widescreen. Nope. No high quality sound. Just a normal discolored TV. The good stuff has gone to the kids.

Oh, we both got what we wished for alright. I guess we did. Folks, be very careful what you wish for…
