Grandma

30days.pngBesides my mom, she was one of the first people who encouraged me to write. I used to love sitting with her for hours and just talk. I loved listening to all her stories about her life.

I told her someday I was going to write her memoir and still would love to, but things are different now. I live so far away and we don’t talk as much as we used to do. I miss her and how close we used to be. I am busy with my own kids now and my own life and sadly have let our relationship lag. I regret that.

I used to stay at her house while I went to school in a different town than where my parents lived. She would listen to me moan about my parents. She would talk politics and religion with me and listen. Really listen. I could run to her with my problems.

Unfortunately, this caused a problem. Our relationship caused more tension on my already fragile relationship with my mom. I love my mom and my relationship with my grandma seemed to just add to the issues. I have always felt torn between the two and I hate that.

This tension that has been created by our relationship makes it difficult for me to even express my feelings on the matter in regards to making things worse. How unfortunate.

There will always be a special place in my heart for my grandma and I wish we could talk like we used to before things got busy and complicated. I am so thankful for her and all the special time we had together. I love you, Grandma.

I’m glad you had her in your life when you needed her, though.

Both my grandmothers had fascinating life stories that would make fabulous books.

    Awww, sad.
You need a visit with her.
Maybe you could print this post and send it to her to let her know how much you miss her.

Sorry to hear this. I hope you can get back into a groove with grandma. It really is a blessing to have her in your life. I know you will think of a way to make it work.
