One of my new finds and newbie daily fixers is the wonderful, Kacie. I found her interesting and useful site through Home EC 101’s new aggregator . (Thanks, Ladies!) Last week she tagged me for a very different kind of meme. I haven’t done a meme in few months and this one is so original, I figured, what the hay!

“So, here’s the challenge: make a list of five strengths that you possess as a writer/artist. It’s not really bragging, it’s an honest assessment (forced upon you by this darn meme). Please resist the urge to enumerate your weaknesses, or even mention them in contrast to each strong point you list. Tag four other writers or artists whom you’d like to see share their strengths.”

Sounds, easy enough, right? Wrong! I have been thinking all weekend long about this and am having a really difficult time coming up with 5 things. Jeez… BUT, here is my attempt:

1. I write with honesty and openness. I probably share more things than I should, especially in my younger days of blogging. I pretty much live like this, too. I don’t try and hide my faults and don’t see much reason, too. I am what I am.

I remember back when I was in high school and during a youth group meeting we were playing some kind of game about secrets. We had to tell the leader a secret, they would write it down and later read it to the group and then the group had to guess who it was. I simply said, “my life is an open book.” It took all of 3 seconds for everyone to guess that out of like 30 other kids, this was me.

2. I write what I am passionate about. I use my writing as a tool for exploration and discovery. My journey to improve myself and ideas are the foundation for my topics. I hope through my learning process I can help other people.

3. I can express my thoughts better through writing than I can through blabbing. When I am upset, hurt, or confused, I can relate these emotions through my writing more effectively than I can by talking about them. This is why I think hubby and I resolve many issues through IMing each other (even when we are both home!) rather than talking about it. Yes, weird, I know.

4. I am not so sure this pertains as much to my writing, but as an artist or crafter per se, I am pretty creative. I enjoy sewing and make all my own patterns. I get some original ideas and try them out. Some better than others, but most are really cool.

5. I am willing to take risks. I have really put myself out on a limb several times. Some of those post or ideas have been a complete flop, but I don’t give up. I try again; I start a new blog; I rework the idea; and I post imperfect posts again.

Now, onto the tagging stage of this meme. Let’s see… when I look over my daily fix list, (if you haven’t looked there for awhile, stop in! There are lots of new blogs up there), I see only a few of my readers, who also happen to be wonderful writers, that I haven’t mentioned lately or shown any linky love. I am tagging them and sharing some excerpts from their blogs:

• frugalmom-”But, I did remind him that when (not if) I get the birds to stay, that I will be back in his shop to show him. He gave me his card and said to call him day or night if I have any questions. Okay, I will, I say. Thinking to myself, these aren’t just any ol’ bluebirds. These were sent by grandma. Of course, they are gonna stay.”

• nikki- “So, I posed a question to them. I said, it’s easy to pass judgement when we are on the outside looking in. So let’s put ourselves in their place. Let’s imagine that we are members of this community, that our children are in middle school, that these statistics are ours. As members of the school board, as parents, and as responsible adults…what should we do??? How do we help these children?? As of this morning, when I logged onto the panel site, there are no responses. My guess is, either no one knows how to answer that question or they still cannot face the reality of the situation.”

• A Whole Lot of Nothing- “Oh, sugar cookie with a generous coating of brightly colored seasonal icing. How I love thee. Let me count the ways: Oh, cookie, with each passing season, you change your colors to match all the other cheap streamers and decorations that adorn the grocery store. You even at times dress yourself up to match my favorite sports team.”

• Momo Fali- “For almost six months, when my daughter was a baby, she slept in our bed. This wasn’t me being a nurturing mother. This wasn’t co-sleeping. This was an eighteen-pound baby lying on my chest because she wouldn’t sleep in her crib. Out of desperation, her father and I brought her into our room, and within a week, she had managed to slither on top of me and nuzzle her face in my neck. We slept like that every night, until she got so big that her sweaty body felt like a Toyota on my chest.”

But Wait! There’s more! Just because you may not see your name as tagged doesn’t mean you can’t play along. Actually, you can! In this time of pressing need for many, many post for NaBloPoMo, you NEED to have some good meme’s in your pocket. Consider yourself officially tagged. There you go. And yes, you’re welcome…
