Frugal Friday- Flip Flops

flipflopsth.gifI didn’t start wearing them to save money, I can say that I will continue to wear them and blame it on that fact. The real reason I wear flip flops or sandals so much is that (1) I’m lazy and they are easy to get on and off, (2) I can’t stand having my feet confined within shoes and/or socks, (3) I live in Florida and my feet get hot, (4) according to the Mr. I am a crunchy and that is part of the “look.”

Whilst reading one of my many magazines, I came across an article toting the cost and ecological benefit of wearing flip flops. (Of course for the life of me, I haven’t been able to track down this article.) Now, of course, I am completely on board.

How can wearing flip flops or sandals save the earth and some green at the same time? No Socks. That’s it. Ok, please tell me you don’t wear socks with your flip flops.

Less sock wearing means less laundry. That’s something I am sure all of us moms can get behind! Less laundry means less energy, less laundry detergent, less wear on the socks, less socks to replace, less transportation cost, and so forth.

It’s really simple. It’s Spring, right? You want to save some money and cut back on your carbon output? Slip on a pair of flip flops.

Okay, well first off, it is not really spring in these here parts! I am cold all the time, so flip flops do not make a showing till at least July…..second, as a matter of fact, I do have toe socks that I can wear with my flip flops! If I so desire…okay, I dont really…but I made you think I did, huh? I mean, I do have the toe socks. I do not wear them with my flip flops…altho now that I think about it!!!!

Wow. I’m speachless….who would have ever thought?? I hardly ever wear socks because I wear heals so much and despise nylons! I really only wear socks when I go to the gym with my tennies otherwise it’s flipflops.

As for the math question–it is a trick question which is why I haven’t answered it since I know the answer :) Had to do something fun.

Yep - I love to wear sandals and it’s weird when it actually gets cold enough here in FL to warrant socks and shoes. That’s why my sandals get worn out so quickly cause I wear them like everyday! Don’t you love living here in FL?
