(Oops!) I did it again: another wine review

oops_cabernet.jpgWhen Hubby and I (and the boogie brats) were cruising through Super Target the other day, we came upon the wine aisle. Oh sweet aisle of mine! Hubby decided to assist me and look for cheeky titles so I could try them and write reviews. His pick for me, which he said was only appropriate due to my clumsiness, was (Oops!) Cabernet Franc Carmenere.

The wine has an interesting history. Apparently, the Carmenere grape somehow became mixed with the Merlot grape when they were introduced to Chilean fields. This went on for awhile before they discovered the mix up and the Bordeaux grape was reclaimed. Hence the title is derived from this mistake.

The wine itself was very good. The cost, at $10.00 a bottle, was even better! What I liked best about this wine was that while it was slightly sweet and fruity it still has a depth about it. It was remarkably smooth and the finish was just right. My

I would highly recommend this wine. It will be on my list to purchase again, as it was a nice change to my typical Pinot Noir. I’d have to agree with the suggestion that “some of the greatest discoveries come from mistakes.”

I just may have to try some of that one of these days! Only problem is, I’m not much of a wine connoisseur, and really have to be in the mood for even white zinfandel.

one more thing to add to the target shopping cart. sounds like a good suggestion. wish I could go grab a bottle right now but I think maybe not good to leave a one and three year old alone sleeping? see, I am a good mom!

The only thing better than a book review is a WINE review. Yay! Now if only we had a Target with a wine aisle. Actually, I’d settle for just the Target.

P.S. Like you, I generally stick to the Pinot. But lately I’ve been experimenting with other stuff, so it really is good to get a recommendation! Thanks!!

$10 per bottle, I can get used to this wine. Most of the time, I can’t get a decent wine at less than $15.
