Give Me Five- Easter Edition
We are not big Easter celebrators around here, either. (I know, you must be wondering, no St. Paddy’s Day, no Easter- what’s wrong with these people?) We do the Easter baskets for the kids, an egg hunt, and usually color eggs, but this year it was all kind of a bust.
We were planning to attending a Renaissance festival, then that got canned so I had to improvise. So without further ado, here at my top five highlights from Easter 2008:
1. Boiling 2 dozen eggs for the kids to color and then they decide they want nothing to do with decorating eggs. (Yay! No mess for mum to clean up)
2. I wasn’t planning on doing real Easter baskets because we were going to surprise the kids with the festival tickets. When we decided to cancel, I had to run out on Saturday night, fight ridiculous crowds and pick up something to fill the baskets. Usually, I spend $20-30 per kid. This year? $18- total for 3 kids.
3. The kids loved their baskets and acted as if I had spent a ton of money. Goes to show that it doesn’t take much, especially when they have been getting decompressed from being such spoiled American children.
4. I didn’t cook ALL day. We ordered out Thai food, which is my favorite.
5. We had some nice quality family time. Quiet, small and relaxed. These are my favorite kind of days.

Our Easter was very quiet this year as well…no kids here at home. At first, I was a bit sad about it, but the relaxed day was very nice.

Sounds like you had a great holiday. We had an indoor egg hunt and then followed it up by a spaghetti lunch. Theis was the first year that the little guy really knew what to do with the eggs…so that was fun.

My husband and I spent Easter with his brother’s family. It was a very nice, relaxing family day too. I can’t think of a better way to spend a holiday.
I came because of Casper, but I’ll be back because you’re a fun read!
