Thanksgiving II…
The day didn’t start off too smoothly. I was cranky and stressed, the kids hyper, and my hubby cranky and playing WOW. I was trying to get all the stuff ready and cut up, so all I had to do in the afternoon was cook and bake. The kids wanted my attention every 5.3 seconds and when they didn’t want my attention, they were fighting or jumping off the back of the couch and performing other extreme boogiebrat sports. I didn’t want to say anything to hubby about him ignoring everything and playing his computer game because we were both cranky. Then because I didn’t say anything it made me angry at him. Vicious cycle, pretty much. I was ready to burst so I told everyone I needed a break and went and sat in my car for 5 minutes in peace. Then I came back in and lasted another 15 minutes and realized I couldn’t do it all. I decided that the food would have to wait and I took the kids outside to play. I pitched Ty the ball, Toby played with sidewalk chalk and all 3 of them rode bikes. After 45 minutes outside, we came back in and I guess my hubby got my drift because he made the kids lunch while I worked on getting the meal ready. I was still tired and thought that if I had to host another Thanksgiving in the next three years, it would be too early.
Then our guest came over the entire atmosphere changed. We laughed and reminiscence about our past Thanksgivings with families and had a great time. The kids were as wild as ever running all over the place, and the boys sat for about 5 minutes of the dinner, then got down to “feed Mooki,” but it was still fun. All the adults helped clean up which was a huge relief to me. I enjoyed myself, but was exhausted. My food was complimented, which always sits well with me
and the dessert was great!
When our guest were leaving, L told me she had a great time and that honestly she really had wanted to stay home today and was dealing with homesickness. (I had known she would be, that’s why I invited them over) but she was so glad that she came and had a great time. That right there, made the entire day worth it for me. Thank you L.
I am thankful for…
Thanksgiving being over. Honestly, I enjoy Thanksgiving, but doing 2 this year was fun at times and fulfilling, but also tiresome. Now starts the Christmas season. Tomorrow I put up decorations and in the next few days, our tree. I love doing this every year. I love sitting on my couch late at night, when the kids are in bed and look at the tree and lights and sip tea. I actually think I enjoy that more then I enjoy actual Christmas day.

I’m glad it turned out great in the end. Caleb was helpful all day but completely wired. Its so hard to get things done when your kids are wired. Have a good evening!
