Can’t fight this feeling.

It’s very rare that a chain letter email gets so stuck in my head, but one has. I got it from a family member a while ago and wanted to post about it right away, but held back because you never know who will drop in and read and I don’t want to tick anyone off.

That being said, people send me emails that they know are bashing my very beliefs, yet they continue to link to me in all their chain mail letters. I get them from all sides of our family and it’s a big running joke with the Mister and I.

If anything, they probably are crossing their fingers that just one special email will make me change the willi-nilli-ness of my liberal ways. If anything, it just reassures me of my beliefs.

So, as I just sat down to fold laundry, I turned on the tv to see if I could catch the afternoon news. Missed it, but Montel was on and the blurb that was advertising today’s segment caught my eye and the heat of that stupid email resurfaced.

It is a very long email, but the part that gets me the most is this:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That’s just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq…

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB !
The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts”

REALLY???

First off, this email and supposed body count is from 2005, I wonder if the originator would still feel the need to claim the same 3 years later?

I think that while some military personnel morale may be high, I also have contact with family and friends in the military, who have served in this war, who would not fall under this “high morale” category.

It literally makes me cry when I think about all the people who are being affected from this never-ending war. While I am not a pacifist, and believe sometimes war is an evil necessary, I believe what we have going on at the moment isn’t working or improving. It’s the definition of insanity, really, “Doing the same thing, the same way and expecting a different result.”

I really hope that whoever is the next president, regardless of who it is, gets the ridiculousness of it all. While I have my own beliefs on what should be done, I would be fairly happy with ANYTHING different being done. A new plan, some new concepts, and dare I say? A solution.
