A: I am not feeling so good. I have been coughing and my stomach and throat hurt.

B: really? ‘cuz I haven’t heard you cough all afternoon. How does your stomach hurt, like crampy or throw-upy?

A: I only have been coughing at school. I am not sure about my stomach. It just hurts.

B: Hmm… maybe you are coming down with a little cold? Is anyone else sick at school?

A: Yeah, a few people. Alexis told me she is sick.

B: Oooh, sounds like “copyitis” to me. You get that a couple time a year.

A: (Excitedly) Really? What is that?

B: You get it when other people feel sick.

A: that must be it!

Later on the phone with her bio-mom

A: I’m not feeling good lately (big smile on face while sweat from running around house with boys and dog drips on forehead)

N: you must be getting a cold.

A: No its worse, boogiemum said it might be copyitis

N: copyitis? what’s that?

A: it’s when I feel sick from other people at school who are feeling sick

N: Oh?!

As she gets in car from school today

A: Guess what? (big smile on face)

B: What?

A: I DO have copyitis! Alexis is sick and I told her that I am TOO!

B: Uhm… really? what’s wrong with Alexis?

A: I can’t remember exacty, but I feel sick JUST LIKE HER!

Copyitis: the act of feeling whatever illness a friend or brother may have so that you may too bond with their misery while lavishing in the attention brought on by other people thinking you are feeling poorly.
