Soccer Star
Usually J takes Ty to soccer, but today I did. I am so glad that I had the chance to watch him play. I was filled with so much pride that I almost cried. Apparently, I must of been pretty hormonal today, because I also cried in laughter as the coach led these 3 and 4 year olds in jumping jacks. It as hilarious! They were just jumping up and down flapping their arms like a bunch of ducks. ![]()
Ty scored the first goal of the game and almost had a few more. Most of the kids were kind of staring into space for a good portion of the game and then a few kicked the ball down in the wrong direction of the goal. Not my Ty. Although he was far from a perfect player, he had heart and was keeping up with what was going on. He even played goalie for a bit and was awesome stopping a few scoring attempts. I was so proud of him and had to keep myself calm as dreams of him playing soccer in his teen years came to mind. I imagined the two of us practicing together, much like we do now, and me cheering for him, along with the rest of the crowd, at all his games. Who knows? It could happen.
The thing that also struck me was that even when the coaches and other parents came up to him to congratulate him on a job well done, he was so humble. And if it is was even possible, that made me even more proud. No matter what happens, whether he plays soccer or not, I will cherish this day I had with him and this glimpse I got into my real little man…

Those moments make me weepy too, where you begin to see the person they may be.

Jonah and Toni play soccer, too, and it’s so great to watch, isn’t it?! Eespecially when you’ve got kids Jonah’s age. Those little guys were scoring goals for the other team, and everybody was cheering about it. So. SWEET.
