Playin’ Hookey…

Right now I am supposed to be at one of the Fall Festival Meetings that I have spoke of recently. It seems things are all catching up with me as I am so exhausted this afternoon.I had a very interesting morning filled with little surprises from my Toby. Let’s just say he took off his diaper twice this morning and then did his thing. After wrangling the kids to get ready, and Toby to keep his clothes on, I went to Ty’s school to assist making Challah bread with 8 classes of kids ranging from 2 to 4 years old…. Ahhh…. hot and tiring, as I was the one to supervise the oven. They came out great, the kids had fun, Ty was ecstatic to see his mum, and my help was greatly appreciated as very few other parents volunteered.

After school, my friend and I took the kids to Johnny Rockets for lunch. Ty was so wound up he was literally jumping on the seats while Toby was eating a crayon. Precious kids, I tell you. By the time I got home it was late in the afternoon and the boys went down for a nap. I had full intentions of getting a few things done, but heard Toby crying and woke up in a pile of laundry I was apparently folding before I passed out , so I lost that opportunity today. Such is life sometimes… Ty kept on sleeping and I didn’t even walk to get A because I didn’t want to wake him up. Then it was almost time for us to leave to go to the meeting at A’s school and Ty was still not up so I called in sick. Bad volunteer, boogiemum, bad!

Oh! Tired is the WORST. I hope you are able to get good rest tonight. Freecycle is so great! :P I just feel bad when I get lots of people that want the stuff and it can only go to one… Oh well! :) Take care of you!

Hey…you have to take care of YOU! I remember I saw this on tv, and it has stuck with me - Think of when you are on an airplane, and the attendant is giving you instructions. They get to the oxygen thingys falling down. They point out that parents need to go against their first instinct to give it the child first. You have to give yourself oxygen first so you can tend to your child.

Most of our everyday challenges are not so dire. (thank goodness!) But the example reminds me that if I do not take care of me, I wont be any good taking care of anyone else.

‘Nough said. Have a lovely day/evening!

I am a firm advocate of taking time out…..

Everyone needs it now and again…. it feeels so wrong that it’s just got to be right.
