Frugal Friday- No Vinegar, I promise.
I acknowledge my lack of posting and admit it’s basically due to my laziness. Life has thrown some curve balls my way the last week and I haven’t been much up for extra chattiness. I know I still need to post about my homeschooling of the boys and will get back onto this at a little later date. Today is Friday though, which means a few tips and I am on my way…
It’s summer time and I know in the 95 degree plus- horribly humid weather, I don’t feel like breaking out the old hot iron. Ok, so I never really feel like taking the thing out, but that’s just because I am lazy trying to conserve energy. Many moons ago, I purchased Downy Wrinkle Releaser which for such a small tiny bottle cost such a large ridiculous
price. Then in a moment of desperation with wrinkly clothes, no releaser left, and the looming possibility of having to break out the hot iron, we discovered that a little fabric softener mixed with a lot of water did the same trick as the Downy.
Since this discovery, which was at least over 6 years ago, we have gone to all environmentally safe laundry products. My favorite fabric softener, which is a must! especially when hanging, rather than electric drying my clothes is Ecover’s fabric softener. I absolutely heart this stuff! It is reasonably priced, smells wonderful, easy on sensitive skin, and works well. I mix about 2-3 tablespoons of it in a 16 ounce spray bottle and I am on my way. While I still don’t have the nice crisp starched creases in my underwear like my mum was so dedicated to our family having whilst I was growing up, my family and I don’t look like we just grabbed a dirty crumpled up shirt from behind a pile of overdue library books, uh- hum, not that that ever happens. Really.
