It’s been awhile…
It has been a long time since I posted a wine review. Not because I have stopped drinking wine, I just haven’t been drinking it as frequently and putting as much energy into discovering new ones. In the past few months I have been on a kick to try something different, as I seem to be slightly burnt out on the drinking the same old stuff time after time. I have kind of come up with a plan and have begun trying wines with interesting names. The more comical the name, the more likely I am to try it.
On a particular stress shopping trip that involved the neighbor, her 3 y/o son and my 2 boys, I literally ran into a shelf that was displaying Mommy’s Time Out Pinot Grigio 2005. If that wasn’t a signal to buy the stuff, I am not sure what would be. Priced at only $8.99, how could I pass it up? I had my doubts about the taste of the wine, but bought it simply for the name and the state of mind it reflected.
I am not a huge Pinot Grigio fan to begin with as my heart lies more with burgundies and reds. The taste of Mommy’s Time Out was manageable, with a light fruity body and low acidity. It had a surprisingly smooth finish and overall left me surprised that I could palate an entire bottle; whereas other Pinot Grigios have been abandoned for something red mid bottle.
I would suggest this wine to anyone who enjoys drinking a white wine. It is overwhelming tasty for such a good price. It would make the perfect wine to tote to your next Mom’s Night Out!

I’m about ready for that first post-pregnancy glass of wine. I had the celebratory beer a week ago, but I’m looking forward to a nice glass with a good dinner. Like you, I favor the reds and I think I’m leaning toward a glass of Zabaco Red Zin’.
I have to go with an old favorite or risk being disappointed by something I’ve looked forward to.

I think I’d buy it just for the name!! I’ve never heard of this one before!

I had a chance while in Dubai on business to attend the Australian Embassy’s wine and cheese party. It was an event that showcased some of Australia’s best wines. It was the first time that I had savoured some of Australia’s best.
