Four Thumbs up for Wall-E
We took the boys to Wall-E this weekend and I was pleasantly surprised with the movie. Going into the theater, I really had no idea what the movie was even about- I usually leave this type of stuff up to the hubby. All I knew is that it had a little robot in it.
While the boys got a little antsy during the middle, they also liked the movie. I am positive that they missed the “hidden” message, until I brought it up upon returning to our car.
It was so refreshing to find such a movie out that casually brought the idea up to a younger audience about learning to reduce and reuse what we have. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie, the basis behind it was that humans over populated the earth with their trash and had to go into outer space until robots cleaned up the disgusting mess. In our throwaway society, this possibility of this happening seems fairly viable.
The other message that was thrown into the movie was geared towards our technology driven lifestyles. It, like the trash, went a bit overboard, but of course that is necessary to make a point. The humans in the movie become so secure with all the automated things doing everything for them and making things sooo much “easier” that they don’t even know how to walk and become disgustingly obese.
Hats off to Disney/Pixar for making such an entertaining, responsible, and educational movie!

Sounds like a hit. I think we will probably try to see it over the weekend.

I haven’t seen it yet but I heard that the review was great! I think it’s great to have such good messages sent to them in a fun way while they’re young.
So how ya doing?

Thanks for the review. I saw the previews for it when we went to the movies last month and I was a little apprehensive about a movie with no (or little?) dialogue.

Thanks for the review. I wouldn’t have given it a second thought because my son is 14 (probably won’t be interested) and my daughter isn’t old enough to appreciate it on that level. I’ll have to put it on the list of DVDs to rent when she’s old enough. I love the message behind it.
